THE ODYSSEY
NASA HOTEL/EXPERIENTIAL DESIGN + SENIOR CAPSTONE
For half of my senior capstone, I participated in a multidisciplinary studio in which architects, interior, industrial, and graphic designers all collaborated to create an experiential hotel, learning experiences and mobile learning unit for NASA. The Odyssey hotel, along with its additional components, was created to showcase NASA's core values of space travel, exploration, and earth stewardship, as well as their Artemis Mission to Mars. My team and I created a full visual identity system for the hotel, mobile unit, and internal shops. My individual contribution to the Odyssey was a shop called Starship Sweets, developed with my teams interior designers, as well as the full creative design of the mobile learning unit, the Voyage. Together with the industrial designer I created a full working system that coincided with the established hotel design as well as user experience exhibits. Our design fuses organic modern forms with a salute to the space age design in order to move towards the new frontier, without forgetting where we came from. Our vision includes wayfinding, building models, interior models, merchandise, and additional promotional materials. It was incredibly rewarding to work with such a diverse group of designers on this massive project and I learned and achieved so much!
